"move up closer, I know you want to dance!"

So it shouldn't come as a surprise that I like bars with live music. & even better when it's new places & bands I love. That was the case for my first bar & gig of 2010.
The place: The Joint.
The band: Inverse.

After they had to leave, I guess driving from LA to Temecula means leaving early(it is a far drive), we went on a little mission that landed us in Dave n Busters, a gay bar w/ horrible music, & then in Pasedena at another bar. In all these places, eyes followed us. It got annoying quick. Old men, 15 year olds & their father("there's 3 of you, & 3 of us"), lesbians, guys from just about every ethnic group, a fake british guy, you name it, it happened. All in all, this night was hella fun & a great way to end my last wkend w/o parents. It would have been better if the haters weren't keeping their eyes on a certain guitarist... but w/e. I behaved.

Soundcheck... 1, 2, 3!

got my back against the wall

My nights are always... interesting to say the least.
Liz & I had major fun. We got there during the Inverse set, which I was txting Sal to give me my tckts, little did I know he had left 'em at the door for me, until I asked Dom if he knew where Sal was & he told me to check at the tckt booth for my tckt. Then an old creepy little man came up to us, he gave us a history of music lesson, all while starring down my shirt. CREEP!
As I was going in I saw Sal in the hall. I said hello. His greeting to me is always followed with a massive hug & he picked me up & hugged me tight. Not gonna lie... it felt good. But what girl in their right mind wouldn't like a hug like that from a man like him?
We hit the bar, Silent Treament was playing my favorite ST song "Some Other Way"
Liz & I were dancing along, I sang along. Fun times.
Went back to the bar & got a shot of Patron which was more like 3 shots in one cuz the bartender filled the damn cup up. It burned since it was a lot, and that got me DRUNK. I was on an empty stomach.
I needed a picture w/ Sal so when I saw him I had Liz snap some shots.
I think I met Trevor, the singer for Inverse, cuz I was standing next to Sal & he came over & said hi, but thats all I recall. I met Dave, the singer from Silent Treatment. He was a sweethart. That I recall since I was sobering up by then.

Me & Sal :)

my fav. photo of the night cuz I look hella scared since I wasn't prepared for this to be taken, Liz caught us off guard as we were just standing together. Though Sal is photogenic & came out looking fine.
His hugs either do this or pick me up, literally.

Going home was fun too

Where art thou?

I found myself, literally. Now its your turn to find me :)

Also, I bought new shoes :)

I had some of those when I was a little girl. Saw that Urban Outfitters had them in stock, had to order them. I've been wanting flat oxfords for a long time now, so while I am still searching for my black ones, these saddle shoes will do<3 Plus, I saw the lovely Tennesse Thomas from the Like with them and I suddenly wished I still had mine. While I get that they might look childish, or w/e. I don't care, cuz I love them.

"thank you for singing along"

I found myself in a photographer's album from Friday night. I love that picture because its shows the 2 sexy Inverse boys & I am just there, singing my little heart out. As I was leaving, I went to say my goodbye to Sal & he gave me a huge sweaty hug & whispered in my ear "thank you for singing along". Hence, the title of this post.

I went shopping today, along with Karina. She's my favorite shopping partner in crime. She keeps me from buying stuff I don't need, but convinces me to buy stuff I really really want. She told me I was also her fav. shopping partner, but that I am also a dangerous one. Hahaha. Watch out, I am dangerous ;) lol

I did some thrifting, got the cutest Dolce Vita flats & cowboy boots, along with a cute little dress. And then of course, since I saved a lot of money on those items, I endulged myself with a sassy little leather jacket for a good price.

Idk why my phone took it in this hue, but I kinda like it.

unbelievable

Quick band review, I cannot recall the names of the first 2 bands, sorry. Silent Treatment was really good. I had heard one song before but they seriously are great live. I highly recommend you catch them live. I loved the song "Some Other Way"

Inverse was too damn good. I have only seen them twice before Friday night, but that was by far the best performance I have seen from them, and I am going to go as far as saying it was one of the best live performances from a "local" band that I have seen. Which is a big statement because I have seen my share of good performances. They played all of the songs I like. Including "Unbelievable" which is my new favorite song at the moment.

The video quality may be poor, since it was taken with my cell phone and I was way up in the front(duh!) so the sound is kinda off at points. But whatev, I love this song so I had to record it.

"how many luv?"

S: "I've got a huge headlining show on the main stage at the knitting factory on fri april 3rd. looks like its going to sell out. shall I save u some tix?"

I know I said I was boycotting all men, but its too fucken hard to say no to sexy ones. So I guess my boycott can wait, till after April 3rd. Besides, I had already made plans to go to that show with Marilu & possibly Daisy. So I get to start my spring break with this awesome gig, along w/ hopefully both my favorite girls, dressing cute, dancing & singing along to these talented guys.

"did we rock you thoroughly?"

^^What Paul asked about last night. My answer, YES.

Inverse did not make it to the next part of the contest.
Which is just a shame because the bands that made it were ok at best(ok fine, they sucked, in my eyes), nothing extraordinary, personally not for my liking. But we all know who should have made it all the way, those boys are pure talent & deserved that break. But what can you do. In the mean time, I got them at least one more fan, Marilu liked them.

We had fun once they played. During the time the other bands were up, I was texting, then Marilu was texting while I chatted up w/ Sal a bit.
The great part, Inverse's performance. They are a band that you must catch live and experience the passion they put into their music. You'll have fun, and dance and dance. I know I did. Getting winked at by Sal & his guitar in my face was fun. They are all great. The singer sang to me at some point, that was cute too. It was about time I saw them again, afterall it had been 4 years.

Picture time!

& the end of the night...

Sweaty hugs from SEXY men, being literally picked up & placed off of the stage...
sometimes life is fun.
For all those nights I spend studying, the nights I go out totally make up for it.
catching them again in April.
I predict FUN times ahead. I want it to be fun. I'll make it fun.
oh haayyy.

how many songs titles can YOU use?

The band, Inverse(who I saw live back when I was like 15 & thought they were pretty fucken amazing) just posted a bulletin about their upcoming shows. & they managed to include their song titles all within that post. It made me giggle quite a bit.

"We are Serious when we say...we would love to see you come out to the Knitting Factory in Hollywood on the 25th of this month. If you are looking to listen to poetry and share your introspective thoughts, we are Sorry to Say that it will be anything but that. It will get so hot and loud that you are going to want to Sweat your Love all of each other on the dance floor. So, we are counting down the Days until the show. February 25th is the Last Night we are playing until Sals Birthday on March 11th....so we hope to see you there! dont sit home listening to the Same Old Song. You can either sit home and wish you were there...or go to the Knitting Factory on the 25th and get freaky sweaty with us.....Do What You Want."

As for me, I am 90% sure I will be seeing them March 11th, for Sal's Birthday. He's quite the looker for 101 ;)
The 10% of me not making it, is due to:
1) a ride, idk if she will bail.
2) its a wednesday, i have school the next day.

but you bet your ass I will try my hardest to make it for 2 reasons:
1) if a sexy 29 yr old asks you to try to make it to his birthday, YOU WILL TRY TO MAKE IT to his birthday show.
2) it has been like 4-5 yrs since I've seen them play, and ultimately I am a fan of their music, they are really good live. Just good old rock music that you can still dance to :)
