When I found out they were going to return, I made sure to contact Stephanie & Shannon & we made our plan to attend. This is an event that cannot be missed!

E L E F A N T (take 2)

With full knowledge that I would not be able to see Elefant on the first night they played here in LA, I knew I had to make the most of it on Saturday night. However, having not met Diego himself, I felt as if I failed somehow... And although meeting Kevin, Mod & Jeff was fun, I wasn't fully satisfied with only getting to mingle with 3/4 of Elefant.

Come Sunday morning, I felt like meeting my favorite artist would never happen. There was family outside, all drinking beers & having a nice steak, when I decide to log onto my Facebook. I see that Elefant is playing a secret show in Downtown LA. At the exact venue where Kevin had told me it would be the night before. And with this, also the possibility of getting in for free. I instantly text Steph, who says she wants to go. We somehow manage to convince our parents to let us out.

We left late, got to the place & still stayed out in the parking lot for a while, allowing us to finish our drinks which were much cheaper than what we were expecting to purchase inside. There was already a line, but we were told to stand in front of the ropes & waited no longer than 2 minutes before being allowed in, without a ticket or having to pay since we were on a "guestlist." We hit the bar immediately & began with some Cosmos. We asked the girls next to us what they were having & they told us to ask for the bartender's specialty. WOW! That drink was the best I've had. So delicious, no joke. Needless to say that I made sure I was front & center this time, nothing was to keep me from that. Steph & I were determined & did not move our ground. It payed off. Just look at the amazing shots I got:

One of the perks of being so close to them, aside from all these(& more) shots, would be that I got to be one of those he sang to. So this was by far more intimate & just an overall better show. Of course, I was so nervous & I tried to get a shot of this, but I didn't quite point the camera in the right direction. haha. oops.

& when I say we liked the perks of being front & center, this would be the main one, the touching:

Did I actually meet Diego Garcia? YES!
On our way out of the bar, we spotted him behind a fence & went to ask for a picture, which he said "I feel like I am in jail... You should title this photo San Quintin".

Then he moved towards the front of the place & we went with to get a clear photo, no fence in between us. He took a photo with Steph & then I went to get my shot. He was a sweetheart. & I got my Diego hug.

I seriously love my life sometimes...

More photos up on my flickr, I will eventually post more on there.
In the mean time, enjoy the view of this amazing drink:

HARD.

I had been too busy to post anything, but I am making a bit of time right now. So HARD was gooooood times! When we got to the parking thing, the girl asked if we were going to the "raid" lmao! Of course, being that none of us are 21, we had to stay in Daisy's car to drink. Bad idea, someone was bound to spill a drink... & that someone was me =/ I felt so bad for that.
Eventually, we got to the Shrine, saw the "line" and waited, not for that long, luckly.

Once we were in, PARTY TIME!
We danced, we laughed, we danced, we sat, we talked, we danced, we sat, we danced, and yeah. The lineup was sick, I loved it.
I wish we would have stayed for the Justice set longer, I heard it got way to amazing, but we went to go see Boys Noize instead, which was pretty bomb & I wanted to see him because I didn't see him at EDC.
That disappointment aside, HARD was pretty bomb, minus the invasion of all the ravers. HARD wasn't a rave, and they made it into one. I still had fun tho.

PS. Random running into ppl i know was fun, for the most part.

Now, for some pictures!
Danny was too drunk, we ended up taking care of him.

BFF. we like bad boys ;) hahahaha

CUH!

Being that HARD was not I repeat not a rave, I ignored the light shows because I did not pay all that $$ to sit on my ass & watch lights. I payed to dance & hear goood music =]

im in the middle of that picture, standing. hahaha.

What difference a year makes!

Last night I stayed up until past 2am working on a paper, which isn't new but I thought about my life a year ago, and its completely different. Don't get me wrong, I had a lot to do last year, academically speaking, but this yr seems to be more loaded with work.

OCTOBER OF LAST YR:

Me & Daisy @detour '07. Right before finding sexy boys and dancing with them, getting numbers/contact info from said guys, smoking, trading a pic for a drink from some girls, cruising downtown LA,

VIP Private Parties at hip hotels, being snuck in by the DJ, drinks, meeting famous people, drinks, being drunk, B spilling champagne on my top, dancing, kisses, dancing, fuzzy memory, being so drunk that I smash into famous lead singers & get hugs afterwards, feeling lame but lucky, browsing youtube the next day, just in case.

NOVEMBER OF LAST YR:

Daisy & I, already intoxicated & walking to a party, notice the bottles in hand.
God that night was something, free enterance, drinks galore!, dancing, boys, getting a lap dance(don't ask)

DECEMBER OF LAST YR:

Me and Nat. Before going into Dance for Xmas. Smoking, drinking, getting caught and thrown out before we even entered the damn club, sneeking back in & dancing on tables with Nat(thought that part was just fun).

OCTOBER OF THIS YR:

My nights and weekends now consist of homework, homework, and more fucken homework. Its pathetic and sad, but you know what, last year I made some stupid mistakes. This year, I have tried to focus on the future rather than the now, and it is boring, but it will pay off.

But I do miss the fun and carefree nights sometimes...

MY detour review.

i've read other posts that say detour was bad this yr.
but i liked it.
obviously last yr was fucken great!
(bloc party, oh & um JUSTICE! need i say more?)
but this yr was fun too.

Datarock was hilarious.
their performance of "Computer Camp Love" had me laughing for a good while.

And though they took forever to set up & they started their set late, Cut Copy were pretty damn good. i was however disappointed that they didnt play "time stands still". but oh well.

But the highlight of the night:
THE PRESETS!
they were just amazing. again, i was sad that they left out "girl and the sea"
and would have like to have heard "if i know you" and "kitty in the middle" (fav songs) they pretty much rocked.

julian & kim are sweethearts.
got to meet em.
they are really down to earth.

& got their autographs =]
