Why, Carlos D, WHY!?!

What the hell is going on in New York?!
First Elefant breaks up, & now this:

& yes, Walter pointed out that this should have been seen coming because they did have trouble during "Our Love to Admire" but I still feel like this came out of nowhere.
I know that Daniel Kessler(*drools! He's so sexy), Paul Banks(*drools again) and Sam Fogarino are still in the band, but it just won't be the same without him. His style is very distinct. He did complete the new album as part of Interpol, but he will not tour with them :(
I will still do my best to see them live this year, but I'll miss Carlos D.

teach me to meet my desires...with some grace

I was bored and cold yesterday afternoon, this is typical of my evenings on campus. So I headed to the library, but decided to sit in the lunch room for a while to study. That failed since people were loudly discussing square roots & such, so I walked inside & sat at a computer. I logged onto my hotmail because I had to email a peer some notes. & then I saw it... a message from Interpol's website. I knew what was coming prior to opening it, but once I saw it infront of me, it was real. Interpol (FINALLY!) released a new song!
After carefull review(ie. listening to it over and over again) I have come to the conclusion that:
I like it. At first, I was like it's long and was hesitant to love it. I quickly recalled that Editors, who have been compared to Interpol ironically enough, have a song titled "Lights" on their "The Back Room" album. Don't get me wrong, I adore Editors(though their newest album left me wanting old Editors back, but alas, that seems to the issue with most new albums of bands). But this "Lights," while sounding slightly dark, definately sounds like Interpol. I will say, that I was like many other Interpol fans who were expecting a "Turn on the Bright Lights"~esque sound/feel to the new album. You know, where I felt like a guitar riff would just pop out nowhere during the track, & it didn't. But all in all, I am happy.
I cannot wait for them to release more songs and post dates. I WILL see them play live!

In other news: I got my copy of Catcher in the Rye back.

It doesn't matter, baby.

The fall quarter consumed my life in during the past month. & then my two(yes, TWO!) jobs have made me into a productive, mature version of myself. I am not sure whether or not I am taking a liking to this new found me, because I am beginning to miss my care-free days like crazy. And meanwhile I have managed to engage in some social play on rare occasions, I am sure glad to be on winter break(from school at least).

Before I ramble, which I have decided to do via photos, I did end up going to see Elefant, up front & center, of course. I met all 4 band members, again. I got Diego's autograph. Woke up the next day with massive bruises on my legs/knees due to all the pushing of the crowd. Life is goooooooooooooood.

Games for Days

You gotta love having some Paul Banks in your life.

ps. He is playing here in LA November 19 I believe.

But Elefant is playing here on November 21st. And as a student at a CSU who is currently still unemployeed... I can't afford both tickets. I've seen Elefant 2 times this summer already. And I have never seen Interpol before... but he's playing his side project(which is great but not to the level that is the AMAZING Interpol) so...

Elefant it is!

the 1990's

If you didn't already know... I have a huge thing for most of the music that came out during the 90s, the early 90s in particular. Now don't get me wrong, I abosulutely love some of today's music. Bands like Editors, Elefant, Interpol, The National, Silversun Pickups, Bloc Party, The Deadly Syndrome... you know, bands with talent & depth. Not your trendy flavor of the week kind of music, but music that hits the spot & doesn't necessarily follow today's trends.
My fascination with the 90s has just grown more and more as we further ourselves from said time period. I often say that I was born too late & would be a perfect match had I been around in the 90s as a young adult rather than 3 or 4 year old.
As of late, I have been listening non-stop to Pearl Jam, Nirvana(of course! Although they are my all time favorite band, I had been neglecting their tunes lately), Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails... etc. And I am loving every second of this. And the icing on top of the cake would be that I just got this video free on iTunes + a short film on the making of the new Pearl Jam album.

Having said all of that... the hot days of summer are ending & autumn is around the corner♥
Even though it was rather warm today, I felt very 90s inspired & sported a new flannel top(not buttoned since it was hot), worn with shorts of course.

I had lunch w/ the best friend Daisy today. I miss having Daisy & Walter around. I have amazing friends now-a-days (Krissie, Steph, Shannon... to name a few) but I still don't like seeing my "best friends" like once a month! At least I am not like Daisy who hasn't seen Wally at all this year.

Lately...

I feel like I am stuck in a rutt...

On other news, I can't get enough of the new album by the Silversun Pickups. They are just so awesome. I feel stupid now for not going to see them when they played at the glasshouse.

Now, must I remind you of other amazing men?
I want
The Relationship to come out with their album already. Brian Bell... wow.
My favorite song is "You Rock My Heart"

PS. I can't wait until the new Weezer album! We can't talk about Brian Bell with out giving a shout out to Weezer. Duh! I love the new single.

good + free!

Nothing is better than some really good, free beats. I have stored my iPod with some really good(& FREE!) music, just in time for the summer. And it has come via 2 of my favorite things in the whole world: NYLON Magazine and Urban Outfitters. NYLON has their 2009 summer playlist out and I downloaded that as soon as I got the email. And I just downloaded the playlist that U.O. put out.
Plus I also got some tracks from rcrdlbl.com
One of which is becoming a personal favorite as we speak,
"Dream City" by
Free Energy.
You should really check them out, good stuff. The song is very catchy.

Oh and since the NYLON Summer Tour is around the corner, I am checking out some of other bands, I hadn't really heard of
Living Things before and wow! They are really amazing. I can't wait until Tuesday!

xoxo.

I hope I become a Ghost

I can't seem to get enough of the Deadly Syndrome right now. Maybe its the music... or maybe its because I think Chris is fucken charming & adorable. I think it is a combo of both. I wish they played a gig soon. I'd so be there in a heartbeat.

My sister & I spent quality time day the other day looking at their live footage, we love how he dances.

and, then we were having a blast watching him dance, period.

mmmm. just how I like my men:

I found this in a blog, I forgot which one, but this picture is beautiful:

Something ain't right.

The moon is not quite bright
The time is not quite now
Your lips are close to mine
I'm leaving, I'm leaving, I'm leaving, I'm...

Our brains are not quite full
So stuffed with half-thought thoughts
Math problems still to solve and
I'm leaving, I'm leaving, I'm leaving, I'm...

Why don't we move ourselves up the road
I don't know which turn was wrong
But the roughest roads are the ones that take us home
Why don't we lay peacefully at night
I can't count the minutes we've lain here
Something ain't right
Something ain't right
Something ain't right
Something ain't, no it ain't, ain't
Something ain't right

Look back at whats behind us
Left home with eyes ahead
The colors run together
They're bleeding
They're bleeding
They're bleeding

Why don't we move ourselves up the road
I don't know which turn was wrong
But the roughest roads are the ones that take us home
Why don't we lay peacefully at night
I can't count the minutes we've lain here
Something ain't right
Something ain't right
Something ain't right
Something ain't, no it ain't, ain't
Something ain't right

Something ain't right
Something ain't right
Something ain't right
Something ain't, something right
Something ain't, something

I'm leaving, I'm leaving, I'm leaving, I'm...

Something, I'm
Leaving, I'm
Something, I'm
Leaving, I'm

Something ain't right
I'm leaving, I'm
Something ain't right
I'm leaving, I'm

Something ain't right
I'm leaving, I'm
Something ain't right
I'm leaving, I'm

I am completely in love with this song by The Deadly Syndrome. This band is too damn good. I saw these boys open up for Moving Units at the House of Blues back in 2007(I remember that, ugh eventful night). They are really nice guys, really easy on the eyes, & talented, duh! I met all 4 of them backstage at that show, I can never get their names right, I apologize. But they were the sweetest and although they were busy loading up their gear, they were still polite & chatty. Plus their drum circle during "Eucalyptus"(pictured above, the view from backstage) is so much fun to watch & it gets you even more into their music. I highly recommend this band!
