Oh, so swoon baby starry nights

2009 is almost to an end. And I don't know whether or not I hate this year. I've felt a sense of lost friendships, although in the technical term, I am still friends with said question marks.

And then there are those moments that made '09 one to remember...
I am beyond grateful for the friends who stood up and were actual friends to me. They know who they are. Family has also stepped up to the plate. With one little person in particular who has filled my heart with both a bit of sadness and endless amounts of happiness. And then the fear of losing my little buddy, David, had me realize that I cannot take life for granted. He has also managed to put a smile on my face every single time I see him. He's my little survivor & I absolutely love having him in my life.

Then there have been the events where I wondered "what am I going to wear!?" & made me forget about the problems surrounding me. There were many, many, many moments. From being able to step onto my beloved Dodger Stadium field, to meeting Diego Garcia, to laying on the sand w/ friends, to remembering how much I loved guestlists, to walking all of downtown & getting lost while looking for a museum with my best guy friend, to taking a chance(that although it failed) I enjoyed the nights I stayed up all night talking to him, to cutting loose & getting the hottest guy in a bar(talk about self-esteem boost!), to finding out beer isn't so bad... good times.

One last note... I have rekindled my love for Interpol. Though they have always been one of my favorite bands, I had neglected to hear them in recent times & have a new found adoration for their good ol' tunes. Also I have realized that although I still think Paul Banks is sexy, I have changed over to Daniel Kessler because he is simply adorable, is an amazing guitarist, he's sexy and has great moves.

Did I mention he is sexy?

& speaking of sexy... I love Matt Kemp. & love that he tweeted this:

oh hayy! ;]

It doesn't matter, baby.

The fall quarter consumed my life in during the past month. & then my two(yes, TWO!) jobs have made me into a productive, mature version of myself. I am not sure whether or not I am taking a liking to this new found me, because I am beginning to miss my care-free days like crazy. And meanwhile I have managed to engage in some social play on rare occasions, I am sure glad to be on winter break(from school at least).

Before I ramble, which I have decided to do via photos, I did end up going to see Elefant, up front & center, of course. I met all 4 band members, again. I got Diego's autograph. Woke up the next day with massive bruises on my legs/knees due to all the pushing of the crowd. Life is goooooooooooooood.

are you really going to break my heart?

Daisy's 21st bash was something alright.
People bailed, what a surprise. But w/e.

Highlights, there were many, but I can't get these outta my head:
Dancing on stage w/ Daisy, Nat & Shannon to something called "me so horny"
I spotted the hottest man in the room, just my type.
Tall, handsome, blond hair, blue eyes, scruffy, nice lips.
Same man eventually came up to me & invited me to go hang w/ his crowd for a bit.
Same HOT man got really affectionate quickly.
Shannon came to rescue me right when he wanted to go for a "walk".
He followed & didn't want to be away. He insisted he had been wanting to talk to me all night, finally got the courage to do it & then I turn him down "ouch, are you really doing this? don't break my heart" hahaha. Eventually he left, but not before he gave me a kiss on the forhead & one last killer smile.

2009 NL West Champs!

The Dodgers sure took their sweet time, but we got it. We got the title. We got the festivities. All that awaits now is one more game to end the season & prepare for post-season. I will be attending tomorrow's game... and to be frank, my liver will hate me. But all will be absolutely fine. Because you see, a real Dodger fan sticks to her team through thick & thin, the good & the bad. And right now, it is all really good! She goes to every game she can, even if money is tight. She will watch every game possible on TV & never falls asleep. She doesn't bail on her MLB loving friends. She has a Dodger Dog in one hand & a Big Blue in the other. She gets her father to scream out "CHAAARRRGE!" even if it's just from home. She is forever loyal to her team. Yes, she. Not all baseball fans are male.
This girl THINKS BLUE!

PS I want to give Matt Kemp a hug... I'm just saying...
& one to Russell Martin.
& one to Casey Blake.
& one to Andre Ethier.
&... well.. you get the point.

Games for Days

You gotta love having some Paul Banks in your life.

ps. He is playing here in LA November 19 I believe.

But Elefant is playing here on November 21st. And as a student at a CSU who is currently still unemployeed... I can't afford both tickets. I've seen Elefant 2 times this summer already. And I have never seen Interpol before... but he's playing his side project(which is great but not to the level that is the AMAZING Interpol) so...

Elefant it is!

quick update:

My nephew David is still in the hospital. His surgery went fine, but he's been in recovery and due to medications that have had to been changed, he's still there.
***Update, Sunday September 20: He is finally home!

School: well... I'm still not sure what the hell is going on. I have had some holds removed, but only to find out there's more.

Work: I am still waiting to start working as a T.A. officially.

Friends: They still suck 'cuz I don't see them, in times of need though, they have at least let me know they still care, via text. However, my boy-best friend aka Walter turns 21 at the end of the month & I am planning to take him out to dinner along w/ the girl bff. But she hasn't mentioned anything, so I'll just make reservations & if she can't make it, Walter said we would just do something the 2 of us.

Men: *tumbleweed passes by...
But with little time for family & friends due to school(or lack of it) and work, I don't have time for much else. And consequently, my "love" life has been non-existing this whole damn year. Pathetic, I know. But part of me wants to change this, I haven't even been on as much as a date in... ya it's been a while!

Speaking of men... lately I have found myself kind of infatuated with yet another amazing artist, Brian Aubert from Silversun Pickups. Musically, he's well... amazing. And I happen to think he's a cutie.

One last note/comment: I want these boots!

But I am NOT 16!

People seem to insist on the "but you look like you're in high school" remarks. At this point, they come as no surprise, but that doesn't mean they are no longer annoying. I completely understand that I do not look my age. But if they must, why do they go with an age that is 5 yrs from my actual age? 19 I would understand, maaaaybe even 18.
But 16?! Really? Common!
I was told this on various occasions... throughout the entire weekend.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll soo take these comments when I'm like +30. I would more than likely love to be told that I look 25 in like 10 yrs. But now, they are still rather annoying.

the 1990's

If you didn't already know... I have a huge thing for most of the music that came out during the 90s, the early 90s in particular. Now don't get me wrong, I abosulutely love some of today's music. Bands like Editors, Elefant, Interpol, The National, Silversun Pickups, Bloc Party, The Deadly Syndrome... you know, bands with talent & depth. Not your trendy flavor of the week kind of music, but music that hits the spot & doesn't necessarily follow today's trends.
My fascination with the 90s has just grown more and more as we further ourselves from said time period. I often say that I was born too late & would be a perfect match had I been around in the 90s as a young adult rather than 3 or 4 year old.
As of late, I have been listening non-stop to Pearl Jam, Nirvana(of course! Although they are my all time favorite band, I had been neglecting their tunes lately), Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails... etc. And I am loving every second of this. And the icing on top of the cake would be that I just got this video free on iTunes + a short film on the making of the new Pearl Jam album.

Having said all of that... the hot days of summer are ending & autumn is around the corner♥
Even though it was rather warm today, I felt very 90s inspired & sported a new flannel top(not buttoned since it was hot), worn with shorts of course.

I had lunch w/ the best friend Daisy today. I miss having Daisy & Walter around. I have amazing friends now-a-days (Krissie, Steph, Shannon... to name a few) but I still don't like seeing my "best friends" like once a month! At least I am not like Daisy who hasn't seen Wally at all this year.

Lately...

I feel like I am stuck in a rutt...

On other news, I can't get enough of the new album by the Silversun Pickups. They are just so awesome. I feel stupid now for not going to see them when they played at the glasshouse.

Now, must I remind you of other amazing men?
I want
The Relationship to come out with their album already. Brian Bell... wow.
My favorite song is "You Rock My Heart"

PS. I can't wait until the new Weezer album! We can't talk about Brian Bell with out giving a shout out to Weezer. Duh! I love the new single.

E L E F A N T (take 2)

With full knowledge that I would not be able to see Elefant on the first night they played here in LA, I knew I had to make the most of it on Saturday night. However, having not met Diego himself, I felt as if I failed somehow... And although meeting Kevin, Mod & Jeff was fun, I wasn't fully satisfied with only getting to mingle with 3/4 of Elefant.

Come Sunday morning, I felt like meeting my favorite artist would never happen. There was family outside, all drinking beers & having a nice steak, when I decide to log onto my Facebook. I see that Elefant is playing a secret show in Downtown LA. At the exact venue where Kevin had told me it would be the night before. And with this, also the possibility of getting in for free. I instantly text Steph, who says she wants to go. We somehow manage to convince our parents to let us out.

We left late, got to the place & still stayed out in the parking lot for a while, allowing us to finish our drinks which were much cheaper than what we were expecting to purchase inside. There was already a line, but we were told to stand in front of the ropes & waited no longer than 2 minutes before being allowed in, without a ticket or having to pay since we were on a "guestlist." We hit the bar immediately & began with some Cosmos. We asked the girls next to us what they were having & they told us to ask for the bartender's specialty. WOW! That drink was the best I've had. So delicious, no joke. Needless to say that I made sure I was front & center this time, nothing was to keep me from that. Steph & I were determined & did not move our ground. It payed off. Just look at the amazing shots I got:

One of the perks of being so close to them, aside from all these(& more) shots, would be that I got to be one of those he sang to. So this was by far more intimate & just an overall better show. Of course, I was so nervous & I tried to get a shot of this, but I didn't quite point the camera in the right direction. haha. oops.
holding my hand

& when I say we liked the perks of being front & center, this would be the main one, the touching:

Did I actually meet Diego Garcia? YES!
On our way out of the bar, we spotted him behind a fence & went to ask for a picture, which he said "I feel like I am in jail... You should title this photo San Quintin".
Photobucket
Then he moved towards the front of the place & we went with to get a clear photo, no fence in between us. He took a photo with Steph & then I went to get my shot. He was a sweetheart. & I got my Diego hug.
Photobucket
I seriously love my life sometimes...

More photos up on my flickr, I will eventually post more on there.
In the mean time, enjoy the view of this amazing drink:
